2020 WORLD EGG DAY CELEBRATION

World Egg Day is celebrated around the World to help raise awareness of the benefits of eggs and their importance in human nutrition. Eggs which could be classified as SUPERFOODS based on how loaded they are with nutrients, some of which are rare in the modern diets.

The poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), Oyo State Chapter on 9th October, 2020 celebrated the World Egg Day in grand style with launching and commissioning of the 18 Seater Hummer Bus for Egg and Chicken promotion.

The event was attended by many dignitaries: Prince Dr. E.O Adetoyi (Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture, Ekiti State, Vice President South West PAN), Prof. Amudalat Bolanle Olaniyan (Wife of the Deputy Governor, Oyo State) among many other dignitaries.

Livestock Industry Foundation for Africa (LIFA) team led by the president; Dr Stephen Adejoro delivered a lecture on benefits of Eggs and improving indigenous egg menu to stimulate more internal consumption of eggs in Nigeria. In his presentation he reported that the major limitation facing consumption of eggs in Nigeria is the lack of consumers’ ideas of a diverse way of preparing palatable and acceptable egg recipes that will dominate homegrown menu.

Dr Adejoro stated that international research published by WATTAgnet.com reported recent technology that was chicken antibodies extracted from eggs to offer instant protection against COVID-19 in a range of applications from chewable tablets to coated air filter and masks.

He concluded his presentation by saying we have the eggs market in Nigeria and all we need to do is public enlightenment on acceptability of diverse eggs resumes by Nigerians and take the advantage to become more resilience to the scourge of infectious disease(s)
